The Artbus is hitting the road again during the Armory Arts Week and is pleased to announce its exciting tour schedule and new program of videos. This year the Artbus will offer two free tours on March 5 and 6, providing access to numerous special events, openings and parties scattered across New York and its boroughs, in addition to the fair.

During the ride, the interior of the bus will serve as an itinerant exhibition space, hosting "Specters: Video and Social Memory," a selection of videos by international artists exploring the notion of memory in the current Society of Spectacle´s amnesia. Emerging and established artists will be featured with works by Regina Galindo, Chus García-Fraile, Shakuntala Kulkarni, Teresa Margolles, Iván Navarro, Fernando Sánchez Castillo, Manuela Viera Gallo, Artur Zmijewski among others.

TOUR SCHEDULE

TOUR 1: ARMORY SHOW & SOHO. THURSDAY MARCH 5, 2009

The group will gather in front of Christie's at 20 Rockefeller Plaza at 6pm. From there, the group will be dropped off at the Armory Show* (tickets for the fair: $30/$10). At 8pm the Artbus will leave the Armory for Soho, where institutions such as Artists Space, the Dia Art Foundation, the Drawing Center and the Swiss Institute will open until late, and will offer drinks and curator-led visits through their exhibitions.

TOUR 2: LONG ISLAND CITY. FRIDAY MARCH 6, 2009

It's only a metro stop away from Manhattan, but New Yorkers still think twice about crossing the East River. Pity, because some of the most exciting art events during the Armory Arts Week take place in Long Island City. To make things easier, Artbus will provide transportation to P.S.1, Dorsky Gallery and Deitch Studios. Friday´s tour will gather at 3:30 pm at the entrance of Volta on 34th Street, directly opposite The Empire State Building, and head to Long Island City for curator-led tours of P.S.1 and Dorsky´s new exhibition, finishing with Vanessa Beecroft's long-awaited performance at Deitch Studios.
