Since it was founded in 2006, Artbus has focused on the promotion and dissemination of video art, with an international program of activities in cities such as Madrid, Belgrade and New York.
Artbus uses the potential of buses and other vehicles as low-budget itinerant exhibition spaces to present video screenings and site-specific artistic interventions. The properties of video - easily transportable and screened, but requiring long visualization time- make Artbus a most suitable space to present and promote video art. While comfortably navigating the town, the interior of the vehicle hosts programs of screenings specially curated for the space.
Artbus offers an alternative platform to experience contemporary art and allows artists to reach broader audiences. From art lovers and collectors gathering at art events to curious bystanders, and passersby, anyone can climb aboard and experience the latest developments in art while engaging in dynamic dialogue. With an educational mission, Artbus cooperates with galleries, museums and art fairs, facilitating transportation to their exhibitions, openings and special events.
